Ascom expands presence in Russia to meet the growing demand for mission critical wireless solutions

Gothenburg, SWEDEN, 10 May 2011 – Ascom Wireless Solutions, the leading supplier of on-site wireless communications today announced it has expanded its Indirect Channel operations with the addition of a new Channel Manager and technical support expert in Ascom’s office in Moscow and will support Russia and the surrounding regions.

Mike McDaid, Director Indirect Channel Partners for Ascom Wireless Solutions says, This is a growing market for Ascom and we have had a considerable number of new customers in the past 12 months. We will focus on the Healthcare and Industry segments mainly, but will also have solutions for Prisons and Hotels. Previously, our indirect partners in this region have received support from our international organization but now, customers in this region can receive localized support from Ascom staff in Moscow. As a world leader in mission critical communication, this is in line with our strategic corporate growth objectives and global expansion.”

As Channel Manager Russia, Ascom has appointed Ludmila Talalaeva who has extensive experience in the wireless communications branch previously working for Motorola. In the team, Dmitry Oskin also joins Ascom as a Senior Technical Support Manager. Prior to Ascom, Mr. Oskin worked for Hewlett Packard.

At Sviaz/Expo Comm in Moscow May 10-13, 2011, Ascom will display their new generation IP-DECT based interactive system and centralised management but also VoWiFi handsets and solutions. Products shown include Ascom’s DECT handsets, the Ascom d41, Ascom d62 and Ascom d81, as well as the recently launched VoWiFi handset, the Ascom i62. The Ascom d81EX/LF versions designed for hazardous locations or explosive environment is in the final stages of clearance and is expected to be available for sale in Russia before Summer.

Ascom’s handsets, which are approved for use within Russia, support Cyrillic letters and the Russian language, feature market-leading levels of physical robustness, ergonomic ease of use and operating safety. Integrating fully with Ascom’s Centralised Management platform the handsets can be managed over-the-air (OTA). All handsets are designed based on Ascom’s long experience in offering state-of-the-art, purpose-built handsets, along with wireless voice and message transmission systems and customized alarm and positioning applications for mission critical communications.
